Trailwork Tuesdays Rolls into Its Second Season

Last year, Trailwork Tuesday accounted for more than 500 volunteer hours out of the nearly 2,000 racked up by Gunnison Trails. For 2013, we’re hoping to crank that number even higher.

Last year we worked mainly at Hartman Rocks and 2013 will be similar. Alonzo’s, Rocky Ridge, Skyline, Beck’s, Josie’s, Gateway, Joshos and Rink Dike trails, were all worked on in 2012. The new Tailpipe reroute also has some roots in Trailwork Tuesdays. For 2013, we’ll continue to work on all of the classics but we’ll also branch out and we have two Tuesdays designated for Doctor Park trail up Taylor Canyon.

Whether you have experience doing trailwork or not, please come out and see what these sessions are all about. We troubleshoot problematic sections as a group and discuss possible solutions. All input is considered, so especially if you feel strongly one way or the other about our past work, please come out and provide your expertise and opinions.

Many thanks to the BLM for providing tools and experience and to New Belgium for providing post work carbs. But most importantly, thanks to all who have come out and worked and to all the new faces we’ll be seeing at upcoming Trailwork Tuesdays.
